12 races in 12 months
I never imagined this would happen when I joined Benson Striders and started running a few years ago. A neighbour recommended the club and I’d never really enjoyed running up to then, but I found the Couch to 5K programme gradually builds up your running so you enjoy it.
I enjoyed planning and choosing my next event, safe in the knowledge that I wasn’t going to be able to hide under the duvet on a cold and rainy day!
I’m not sure I’ve got any faster, but now I know that having a great time at a race has nothing to do with your finish time!
It took me a while to actually enjoy the experience and I was surprised that I enjoyed the last one the most at Mapledurham 10k even though it was in December. The Thames Path Challenge Henley 10K was also fantastic with a glass of bubbles on the finish, music and free rides for the kids.
Wherever you go the event organisers and supporters put so much effort into creating such a great atmostphere for the runners.
I thought I would breathe a sigh of relief at the end of the year, but I’ve already done Woodcote 10K at the beginning of January. And what a great start to the new year, I would highly recommend it!
Loving the medal rack my Dad bought me for Christmas which has plenty of room for more challenges!
