On Saturday 20th July we celebrated our latest cohort of Couch to 5K runners graduating.
Led by the fabulous and encouraging Lindsey Stark the group all completed their 5K and the club celebrated with coffee and brunch at the Cartshed after.
Despite a fear of “always being at the back” and “getting the hang of breathing whilst also running” the group worked as a brilliant team, supporting each other the weeks. Carolyn said she quickly realised “you don’t need to compare yourself to others, you are moving so therefore you are winning!”
A few commented that committing to 8.15 every Saturday took a while to get used to but realised that “running with a group of lovely people was the best support with a great sense of achievement and comradery. “
It’s great to have new members of the club who are feeling fitter and stronger. Leigh commented “The best thing was feeling the changes to my fitness over the weeks, I still can’t believe how quick my recovery is now”.
For anyone interested in joining the next Couch to 5K group please email firstname.lastname@example.org to put your name down. As the group commented “trust the coaches, they will not ask you do anything they don’t think you can do” and “turning up for the first run might be hard” but do it as “you’ll definitely feel better than you did before”.
CONGRATULATIONS ALL and a big THANK YOU to Lindsey Stark, Julia Hayes and Francis Wilmott for leading the group.
